House of “Shrek”: A Nevada investor is in escrow to buy the palatial Granite Bay mansion formerly owned by actor Eddie Murphy.
“It was close to the asking price (of $6.5 million),” says Realtor Nick Sadek of the top offer for the 11,200-square-foot main home and 5,200-square foot guest house with amazing views of Folsom Lake and the distant Sacramento skyline.
The deal could close as early as next week. If it doesn’t, Sadek reports there are two backup offers, one from a Sacramento resident.
“I kept my promise that the house would sell within 30 days,” says Sadek, who listed the estate at what he called “an aggressive” price after earlier efforts to sell it for $10 million were unsuccessful.
Sadek isn’t disclosing the buyer’s identity, describing him only as a Nevada businessman who “dabbles” in real estate.
Is he intending to flip it for a profit? Not according to Sadek, who says the unnamed buyer intends to use the 2.5-acre property as a second home. The manse includes an infinity pool, a health-club-sized gym, movie screening room, a video arcade and, of course, a “Shrek”- themed kids’ room.
