Carter designed many homes during his lifetime (1923-1997) in Sacramento. He was known for using wood panels and walls of glass. He wanted his homes to have easy access to the outside.
This American River waterfront home showcases Carter Sparks use of glass and wood in order to take advantage of the outdoor beauty. Sparks liked the magic of bringing the outside in.
Individualistic. Architectural Character.
Spark designed his homes keeping in mind that each home should have a sense of excitement. Rooms should not always be where you expect them; the location of a room should surprise you.
The more unique a parcel was the more excited Sparks was to design a home. He used each property’s unique character to incorporate with his design elements. The more unique the more fun Sparks would have with his creative design.
Carter designed many impressive homes in the Sacramento Valley which homeowners still appreciate their unique Spark “magic” and continue to enhance the features even when remodeling.
Nick Sadek, broker and owner of Nick Sadek Sotheby’s International Realty, has recently listed 3600 Kiekebusch Court in Carmichael that was designed Carter Sparks and built in 1977. This home is built on a hillside high above the American River.
